FEATHERBED HOMECARE

Frequently asked questions

When you are faced with the challenge of finding a live-in care provider to help care for the emotional and physical well-being of someone you love, maybe your mom or dad, you will be faced with many questions.

Getting started

Q. I’ve never done this before. Can you tell me about your services?

We are a live-in care agency, which means that we provide live-in carers in your own home. Because we have 40 years of care experience and know our carers well, we will only place a compatible and experienced carer with you. Our carers provide companionship, security, and individual personal care needs so you or your loved one can remain in safe, familiar surroundings. We have carers experienced in all aspects of care, especially end-of-life, dementia and Alzheimer’s

We specialise in live-in care, but depending on the area, we can provide night cover or sleepovers.

Q. What kind of information do you need to know?

A. There are many different ailments that loved ones may experience. No two conditions (or lifestyles) are the same. We would like to find out more about your loved one’s needs so we can help you find the best care. When you call our office, our nurse-trained managers ask the right questions so we can develop and implement a suitable care package for your specific situation. Call us today for a personal consultation at 0117 9860710.

Q: How do I get started with your service?
  • A. Just call our office. One of our nurse-trained managers will discuss your unique situation and requirements, along with costs, fees, and what we can offer.
  • After that, a suitable date and time will be arranged for an initial home visit to meet and assess the person’s needs and care requirements.
Q. What geographical areas do you service?
  • We can place carers anywhere within the UK.
Q. How quickly can service be provided?

Generally, once an assessment has taken place, we can provide service within 24-48 hours after you request it.

Q. When is home care necessary?

It is difficult to accept that a senior adult in your life can no longer perform the same tasks they once could on their own. You may have started noticing small signs that have raised concerns. At first, you may have even turned a blind eye, but when those signs become more frequent and more serious, it is time to pay attention and ask for help. Getting assistance for your loved one can help keep them safer, healthier, and living at home longer. It’s very true – there’s no place like home. That’s why older adults strive to stay there as long as they can. When a person is ageing or recovering from a recent surgery and needs help with their activities of daily living, a live-in carer may be necessary.

Choosing your carer

Q. Are your carers experienced and qualified?

Our carers are mature and trained in all aspects of personal care. They are experienced in all types of illness, including end-of-life, dementia and Alzheimer’s. We require their mandatory training to be renewed each year. They must possess an up-to-date enhanced DBS and carer insurance. We also offer an in-house training package for our carers. We view our clients and our carers as part of the Featherbed Agency family.
